House's name is Peter (?)Lorie. He's interesting, but I think they should have an episode where he gets a visit from his brother John Becker. This is just a more extreme version of that character.
I find Adrian Monk (Monk) and Brenda Johnson (The Closer) to be very interesting characters.
As for the others you listed: Jack Bauer is one dimensional. I like the story, but I can't keep up due to my schedule so I don't watch.
I have only seen one episode of Shark and it was only mildly entertaining. I found the character to be rather flat and unemotional. His daughter was in danger, but I couldn't muster any concern about it.
I've never really watched Lost (except briefly during gym workouts because it was on the tv over the treadmill.) I think the premis is very stupid.
Simon Cowell is a cartoon character. Totally predictable and who cares.

The best character on T.V. from your list would have to be Gregory House. He's interesting and mysterious. He's also funny and compelling. Hugh Laurie plays his character well and all the other characters have nothing on him.
The best character on T.V. not from you list is Andrian Monk. There's a lot about him and he's hilarious. I think him having OCD is what makes the whole show what it is, GREAT!
