Would you think that it would be harmful to add like a drop of vanilla extract to my newborn's formula?

I have never done this, I simply ask opinions! The only reason I was curious is because of the bland flavor of formula, I feel bad!

I don't know if it would be harmful but there's no reason to do it. Your child doesn't need it. Why are you interested in doing it? If it is because you think formula has an awful smell/taste, I agree but a baby's tastebuds are different than an adult's. Your child doesn't need it, therefore don't do it!! There's no need to expose your child to something it doesn't need to be.

What is the reason you want to do this? Vanilla extract does have alcohol in it. Although a small amount, no amount of alcohol is good for a baby.

I think baby's need to be satisfied with the taste of plain foods. Otherwise they won't eat the healthy, more bland tasting foods later!

Ask your pediatrician. I personally don't think its necessary. If you do this I think you are setting yourself up. If you get a baby used to sweet tastes at such a young age it could spell disaster.
