Transport Fridge Lying Down

Wouldn't the expense of buying a new refrigerator make the cost of moving it in an upright position be a small amount in comparison to the possibilities of damage or even family discord. It might come up as a warranty problem even if it is not damaged ,simply because you did not heed the instructions for shipping

Fishman is right,

It is best to trasport a fridge in the upright position.

But if it's absoulty impossible for you to do so then you need to let it sit for 24 hrs before you plug it in, after transporting.

When you tip a refridgerator on it's side the compressor oil runs out of the compressor, and it needs time to run back down into the crankcase, or you'll fry your brand new compressor.

And make sure NOT to smash the coils by lying it on it's back side. Lay it on one of the sides.

you are only traveling a short distance this should not dammage the refrigerator as long as you stand it up aqs soon as you get home and dont plug it in for at least 24 hours. A refrigerator contains oil in the condensor and when you lay it down the oil travels into the lines and pump if you turn it on to soon the oil may seaz the pump.

Never, ever, lay it on it's side, as the fan motor can slip out of alignment and it will fry the moment you plug it in. They are shipped upright for a reason!

I have many friends who work for Amana Refrigeration & they all agree.

Pay the $50.00 and have it delivered. A new dented refrigerator will look great in your kitchen. Oh yea, leave it unplugged for 24 hours to be safe.

Yes, you can. BUT make sure the 'fridge is upright for 24 hours before you plug it in. This allowes the oil to go to the bottom where it should be.

I wouldn't.Oil in the compressor may run past expansion valve. If you must, let it sit upright a couple hours before plugging it in.
