I found out last week that I'm around 36-weeks pregnant. My doctor says I have gestational diabetes, so I have been on the diabetic diet and whatnot. He said he will induce me March 10th (due date is March 22nd) if I haven't had the baby by then. I had my son 36-1/2 weeks, so I think I'll have this one before March. Anyway, he said I could do a couple of things to induce myself, which was to walk a lot and have sex. My husband and I just had sex, and now I feel sick to my stomach and my lower back aches horribly. Is this normal? Oh, and last night, (we had sex about 4-5 hours before), a small bit of discharge about the size of a dime came out when I urinated. Is that my mucus plug? With my first, I knew what it was because it was all bloody. This time I don't know for sure.

I don't actually have the diabetes. My doc seems to think anything over 120 is borderline diabetic...yeah, I know...soooo....AND he's changed the due date many times. First time, March 22nd, second time, March 18th, third time, anywhere around the first week of March, and now, he's inducing March 10th. I'm so confused. So I am going to assume my due date is the 18th or 22nd. That would make me around 36-weeks pregnant. And as far as the sex positions, we've been doing it with me propped up on pillows on my belly, so I don't have to strain or lie on my back. I've also had a lot of discharge all day long and my belly has been cramping and all that wonderful goodness. So anyway, just wanted to add those details.

I think that the discharge was your mucus plus. Mine came out when I wiped (sorry for being graphic) and it was whitish. The plug can be whitish or reddish (a bloody show). As for the backache and nausea...it might be labor.... my friend was throwing up etc. early in her labor, and "back labor" is not uncommon. However, please call you doctor (especially with the gestational diabetes) right away, it doesn't matter what time it is they have "on-call" numbers... they are there for you and will tell you what to do next. Anyway, God Bless and good luck.

you partially seperated the placenta.. I cannot believe that a Dr told you you could induce labor having sex and you went for it at 36 wks!! GD results in large premies, but usually the baby is normal. so, stop with the sex-- especially dont let hubby go to hammering away. No more deep stroking, that can do brain damage and can even kill the child.. whatch your diet take your perscribed meds and exercise as able.

Well the discharge could've been from your husband or the vaginal secretions you produce during sex (and it just so happens that it came out while you urinated). The back pains seem a little strange but it could be apart of the self-induction process(I'm not a doctor this is my opinion). I'm sure that it's nothing to worry about but ALWAYS tell your doctor ANYTHING you're worried about.

Maybe it's the position you have sex in that is causing your backache? Maybe you can find a more comfortable position. My wife and I found several positions during her pregnancy that avoided putting physical pressure on her such as both of us on our sides. As for the discharge consult your doctor immediately. Remember that there are many well meaning people out here without medical degrees giving unsound advise. God Bless you and your baby.

It could possibly be back contractions. Sperm from a man can make you contract. The hormones in it will do this. I would call you doctor to be on the safe side also you could just have back pain I am 28 weeks and have very bad back pain.

Yep your using muscles in your body that you haven't used which is part of the reason for the backache. Can't help you with the other...

Obviously the sex option suggested by your doctor will probably cause you problems.

I suggest you see your doctor again, or see another doctor. Also try the walking option that he suggested instead of the sex option.
