goto file > save as > select all files and type in

filename.bat

click ok and save

Batch files are just plain text files with a .bat extension instead of .txt; they don't have their own format. From notepad, select

File: Save As...

choose your directory, type your file name with the .bat extension in the "File name:" field, select "All file types" from the "Save as type:" dropdown list so that notepad won't automatically append a .txt extension to it, and then click Save.

Or, just save the file and then rename it as .bat
