Yes CNN is A Ultra Leftist Media Outlet that is Not Interested in Broadcasting the Real Truth. They take Gossip and Hear say and try to form it into the Truth to Influence US Citizens into their way of Thinking along with The NY Times, Washington Post, NBC,CBS, ABC and Online Like Yahoo etc. After Watching and listening and reading articles by these News Agencies For Years , I find that Fox News to be the Most Reliable in terms of Real Truth. Opinions may differ with this but if you keep an open mind you actually see that they are the Ultra Leftist Government Tools. Much Like Russia's State Run News and Newspaper.

I don't know if I would label them the National Enquirer. The Enquirer actually gets a story right once in a while. I think I would call them the "Air America" of cable news channels. Their unabashed pro-democrat coverage hit a new low right before last Novembers elections with series such as "Broken government" and "Crisis in congress". Thats when I decided to block cnn from my available channels. Now, I don't even have to see them when I'm just surfing. I really think they came to the conclusion that they have no chance of winning back the right-minded viewers from Fox, so they just decided to go headlong after the wrong-minded viewers. And you're right about Lou Dobbs. He's the only link to sanity they have left.

CNN got trashy after Fox got trashy. Fox gets more viewers than CNN and is in less homes, they get WAY more viewers in prime time. CNN has to catch up... they figured the best way was to do more trashy stories and have more cute info-babe anchors.
Fox saw that a bias at CNN and the other networks had created an empty market nice... news that was moderate to conservative in its politics. Then about 2002 or so they had a managment change... they hired Giraldo Revera and dumped responsible journalisim for trashy, emotional, and exciting. Now they do a FOX NEWS ALERT every time the come out of commerical normally it is about a missing teenager...ALWAYS pretty, blonde and female... who is STILL MISSING! (What, don't non-WASPS ever get kidnapped?). Fox is now pretty much all about yellow journalisim. I used to love Fox, now I can't stand them.
If you want REAL news the best place to go is CNBC. Its a buisness channel so it is a little different.
Now be warned about CNBC. They assume that their audience is smart and grown up, so they use big words and they don't always explain every little thing in detail. They assume you know things like Gasoline is made from crude oil, that Hugo Chaves is President of Venezuela and that he hates the USA, or that Nigeria is in Africa. Unfortunatley they also sometimes assume that you know what the "beta" in a stock price is, or what a "deflator number" is.
You will learn a LOT by watching them, but it may take you a couple of weeks before you understand everything they are talking about... like what an IPO is, or how the anouncment of the petroleum distilate stocks will effect the price of gas. If you stick with it though you will know more about how the world REALLY works than you could ever learn from watching CNN or FOX.
That being said, they cover buisnsess news. This isn't as dull as you would think. Serious buisness people know that politics and international affairs play a big part in buisness. People who invest in things demand detailed knowledge on subjects, so they when they do a story on oil prices they won't do a 2 min story with an info babe (who only got hired because she is cute) standing at a gas station asking some guy (who only got on camera because he was filling up his truck when the camera crew was there) what he thinks of oil prices. ("Um... high oil prices are bad..." said Mr. Buford Kousinkisser. Now back to you in the studio Ken and Barbie! )
CNBC will do a 15 min segment on oil prices, talk with experts in the field, explain why the markets do what they do and how they impact the politics (and vica-versa). By the end of the segment you will actually KNOW something. When Oil hit $50 for the first time they did a one hour special on it, and on Saudi Arabia. You can actually learn things on CNBC.
Lastly, since they assume their audience is grown up buisness people, they assume your time is valuable. They don't stuff in lots of trashy stuff about movie stars and TV shows. They don't put on stories that are only there because they have exciting footage. (I mean I live in Houston... what do I care if some guy in L.A. robbed a donut shop and they have LIVE FOOTAGE of the chase? What to I care if there was a spectacular fire at a warehouse in Duluth? That's exciting footage, but it's not news.)

Anderson Cooper 360 in the rain forest studying the effects of the destruction of it is not "it's all about us" coverage. On the Fox News Network just last night, Hannity & Combs discussing Anna Nicole Smith, The O'Reilly Factor, discussing Anna Nicole Smith, On The Record with Greta Van Sustern discussing Anna Nicole Smith, MSNBC also has their share of discussions (a little less) about Anna Nicole Smith and Court TV is all about Anna Nicole Smith. Most of them are leaning toward A National Enquirer mentality, not just CNN. Unfortunately they show what most of America wants to watch.
