Exactly what it says :P

An acoustic guitar has NO electronics at all. It's not hooked up to anything.

An electro-acoustic can be used as an acoustic, free-standing guitar, or it can be hooked up to an amplifier.
You can't modify the sound on an electro-acoustic like you can on an electric. There are SOME minor tone changes you can make, but the main reason you'd hook up an electro-acoustic is for volume.

Basically, here's the rub: if you plan on playing coffeehouses or other public settings, get the electro-acoustic so you can plug it in. You can always "mic up" a plain ol' acoustic, but it's easier to just plug in an electro-acoustic, and it's easier getting a good sound.

If you're just playing around the house, and you don't plan on buying an amplifier, there's no point getting an electro-acoustic.

The electro-acoustic is electrically amped so it can be louder.
