I dont get why it costs more money to buy jeans that look old and worn out than it does to buy jeans that look nice and aren't all ripped and torn.

Ok...a little fashion history lesson.

The rich have ALWAYS been fascinated by the poor.

If you look at Elizabethan style you'll notice that clothes have 'cuts' in them:

You see how the briches look like they've been shredded?
Well that's exactly what it was! Rich people saw poor people with cuts in their clothes and the under layers poking through and they loved it! So they started deliberately cutting their own clothes. And after a while, the more cuts the clothes had, the more expensive they were.

Lace has a similar story!

To this day we still do it. We randomly see someone less fortunate with torn pants and think: "hey! that's cool!", and suddenly everyone wants torn jeans...and they become RIDICULOUSLY expensive!

Right now torn jeans are the "Trend" and the sales people know that people will pay anything for them because a lot of people are into being "Trendy."

I guess because it takes more time to rip the jean than just sell it as it is, and more time means more money.

Funny that when us "hippies" wore those type jeans in the 60's and 70's we were called dirty and neer -do- wells. NOW they are in fashion?! Gotta Love it!!

It's more expensive because people are so dumb they will pay more. Why do people pay more for bottled water than they pay for gasoline? It's the same reason.

because it takes more effort for the company to "rip them" then just keep them whole. =)
