I didn't know there was a world government. The UN never has worked and all the countries are just as fearful and war-like as ever.

There is no world government in place. If there was a world government, I would prefer that it was structured like what we have in America. For example, every state gets a certain number of representatives based on the population. On a world government scale, every nation would supply representatives based on population and this means that India and China would probably have a major say in what goes on in the world.

The idea of it?
Well, what does it mean for an idea to succeed?
If world government were a fact - which it is not, since there is no world government - that might be considered as success or failure, but the idea itself ...... let's see ~ an idea to be successful would mean that it was put out for the purpose of stimulating discussion, and its success or failure would be whether or not it was stimulating to a large number of people
Sorry to be so querelous, but language is meant to communicate and whoever was responsible for the zinger of a question posted should consider if that is the way he / she actually wanted to word it .
Fair enough?

It hasn't been implemented so how can you judge? Regional governments seem to be doing well in the EU. The diversity (cultural, religious, economic) of wider areas than that would seem to be a problem for now. Despite criticism from the right-wing isolationists, the UN has had a lot of success in social/education programs and in many security issues. It's not really meant to be a governing body though. Just a forum for cooperation.

There's a world govenment? So far they haven't asked for any taxes, and they're not drafting an army. Who runs this government? Can I get a special driver's license to drive around the world? Do i need an ID card?
Where do I vote for world leader? Do I register to vote for that? Do they have universal health care? Do they allow free speech? If I don't like what they are doing, will they call me names and villlify me as Un-Earthian for expressing that opinion?

Do they have an official religion? If i don't belong to that religion am I condemned to hell? How do they feel about women? About Muslims? About Catholics?

Please send me details, onless you're talking about Scientology. Then you can just send me Tom Cruise.

Well, I think the only world government you are going to get is a weak federation of countries, so, yes, probably what is going on is a success. Like any other government, it has its weak and strong points, and no two members are going to see completely eye-to-eye.

Considering the constraints, I think it is functioning as well as can be expected, and has as many weak points as is expected of rule by committee.

No way, man! The US has given up its sovereignty to UN groups such as the World Trade Organization, and the political elite in this country want to form a North American Union with Mexico and Canada. Over my dead body!

Sure it has. And with the North American Union in the works...everything is falling into place. And with the Trans-Texas Super Corridor being built and the plans for the NASCO project that will connect Mexico, the US and Canada....yep, everything is going as planned by the NWO supporters. Oh, and with the Real ID card....and Veri-Chip coming along...yep...it's going just great.
ARGH!!!!!!

What world government? The UN is corrupt. The US is the only one willing to take a stand against the terrorists.
