There's a lot you can do to help frogs, but keeping them in captivity is not one of them. To have a captive breeding population in a zoo is one thing, but to take them out of the wild to keep yourself is only going to stress the wild populations more. Saving habitat and stopping pollution are the best ways to try to save them. There are several organizations you can either donate money to, or try to be involved in. If your area has a local herpetological society, see if they are involved in any conservation projects, or if they do any educational shows. A lot of people don't know how vulnerable frogs really are, or how importan they are... both for their ecosystems and for us. They are finding new medicinal uses for frogs every day. One frog even has anti-HIV properties in it's skin!

How would it help wild frogs to keep pet frogs?

If the pet frogs were captive bred, then they don't affect the wild population. If they were captured, they are can't help the wild population breed.

Keeping pet frogs won't change the problem- fixing the local habitats will.
