Are you asking about brands, wattage needed, or what?

If you are talking about wattage needed to run an average household during power outages, you need to bank on having at least a 2000 watt generator to keep your main appliances, lights, and a few other peripherals operational.

If you are asking about brands, I have a Yamaha 3000 watt gas powered generator, and have never had a minutes trouble out of it. That's with running a full household, mind you.

They are expensive but well worth the money. Size doesn't really matter unless you want to be able to do alot of things. The main thing I focused on was keeping the basement sump pump running, thas all you really need.
