Gary Bettman want to promote rivalries within divisions. As a result, each team plays 8 games against each team in your division, 4 against other divisions in your conference, and less than one per year against teams in another conference. I think this is stupid. I live in Calgary, so the only way I can see Crosby, Ovechkin or any of the top eastern players is once every 3 or 4 years when they come to the Dome. I can see why Bettman would want these rivalries, but like Rockford said, Calgary plays Colorado three straight. Anyways, that's probably the reason for NJ's schedule.

With the new scheduling in the NHL, you play your own conference so many times more that you used to... and your division even more than that (8 times). The mathematical probability that you will play a home-&-home against the same time actually pretty high.
Now back-to-back home-&-home's has to be a rarity in the league.
But I guess it has to happen to a couple of teams.

Another "Gift from Gary"
Bettman sold out to the owners,
not to increase inter-division rivalry,
but to save travel expenses
The owners love Gary
Good to know somebody does
Thanks again Gary

Calgary and Colorado are playing each other three times in a row right now. How screwed up is that?

Blame the cheapskate owners who don't want to fly out to California. It is not a glitch.
