Italy is a great place to travel-- you have to be safe no matter where you travel, whether overseas or to NYC or LA, so use common sense when you travel anywhere. Keep your documents in a safe place when you travel (if you're bringing a bag/backpack on your trip/excursion, keep the important stuff in front of you or in a hidden passport holder, not on your back) or locked in a hotel safe. Watch out for pickpockets and those crazy vendors, and stay in well lit areas at night, and don't be walking around alone at night. Other than that, have a blast, enjoy the country and your trip!

Just dont go near any military city like Vicenza and start acting "uggly American" To most Northen Europeans Italians are the Mexican of Europe... But having lived there I can tell you they are friendly and great people... However, take the same precautions you would take in any foreign country. Respect them; they will respect you. Ciao!

Sure. It's a wonderful place to visit. Your biggest threat will probably be pickpockets in the big cities.
