I suppose there could be liability issues, but mostly it would just be too difficult. There may be a service somewhere that you have to pay for that would give truck routing. Mapquest has an option to use major highways/interstates as much as possible. Mostly, truckers have to look out for themselves. If possible, supplement the yahoo directions by calling the shipper for directions before you get there, ask other drivers if they have been there before, and see if your trucking company keeps directions on file. If the yahoo directions are all you have, usually the best bet is to stay with state or US highways as much as possible, and stay with the major streets as much as possible until you get to the customer. Plan your route to avoid making turns on small streets. You can also check your route against the low clearances/ prohibited routes in your Rand Mcnalley motor carrier's atlas. It is especially helpful in New York City and Chicago.

We get the same problem in the UK, especially with drivers from Europe trying to go down roads unsuitable for large vehicles. To set up a route planning system for oversize vehiles is a very expensive process, thats wht it hasn't been done. Satnav has the same problem, probably because it uses the same database. Get up to date road atlases that have weight/size restriction information and save a lot of trouble and maybe a few tickets as well.
