As a writer/ Author with many years in theater, I suggest others who say STICK WITH what you know, have the first clue to your POSSIBLE success. Gads look at all the LOVE stories out there, even comedic ones, that make it to top shelf.
TRYING... kinda bothers me though, no offense. HAVE YOU the talent to write and validity in your work to sell it? Please indulge me a moment. I offer a quote my grandmother stated nearly 60 years ago, as I was writing my first journal entries.
"Writing may feed your heart and soul; Selling it may feed your belly."
Doing what you enjoy, are most passionate about, is more the issue than what you do with it after the fact. Expressing is the passion, and the subject is really a minor point.
Hopefully you have "technique" down as well as you know your own name. Hopefully you know the technical aspects of STORY turned into SCRIPT, and hopefully, Finally, YOU won't QUIT, if this truly is a passion.
Love tales are relatively easy; they can be taken from life, and REAL life experiences. Adventure tales can be as extreme as you wish, since obviously "ACTION/ADVENTURE sells as much as Sex. Comedy is a bit more a rough road. What seems "roll on the floor hilarious" to you, may put theater audiences to sleep?
Above all do not deny the muse...Exercise it; Nourish it; accept that rejection isn't a personal attack, and keep on keeping on, especially if it nurtures YOU!

I understand your problem. I am an aspiring writer as well and I had a problem with only coming up with horror stories. The problem was all I was reading was horror stories. Every book on writing I have ever, ever read suggests reading material from all genres. Read fiction, nonfiction, classics, comedy, thrillers, suspense, horror. Read things you would never ever pick up normally ( I read Catch 22 which is about WWII and I thought I would hate it but now it's one of my favorites). Another thing most self help writing books and accomplished authors say is to read read read. The key to writing anything good is reading ALOT. For example Dean Koontz writes about 60 hours a week, but even though he is an accomplished author, he still makes time to read 2-3 books a week! (Crazy I know). But the moral of this is, if you want to write differently read differently. It helped me!
