My goldfish's Dont seem to want to eat ? any ideas?

hey, I baught my goldfish 3 days ago, They both came from the same store. i feed them 1 flake broken into 2 pieces 1nce per day but they never touch it, Sometimes they come up to it, eat it but they ALWAYS spit it back out, It is a known brand goldfish food so i have no idea why, Could it be the flavor ? i have no idea

Your fish may have an internal infection or internal parasites preventing them from eating. Stunted fish sometimes starve because the internal organs have grown bigger than the fish's size can handle. There are many reasons fish can't swallow. I'd start the fish off on an antibacteria medication right away. You just bought the fish so you don't know what could be wrong.
Another thing, if they are pooping white, it is a sure sign of internal bacteria or parasites.

I had goldfish when I was a teenager, and they did this, too. They were probably not really hungry, and this is a version of fish play (kind of like a cat playing with a mouse, but not hungry enough to eat it).

You will find your fish eating off the bottom of the bowl, sucking in and spitting out rocks, too.

goldfish usually eat just about anything. try feeding them some fresh greens. if you have lettuce or spinach or something cook it for afew minutes and cut it up really small. you can do the same with peas. just make sure you take off the outside because that wont get eaten.

give them time to settle in - mine didnt eat for 4 days when i got them
