You may be using old wax, waxing in the sun, waxing when the paint is hot, waxing when it is too humid, waxing when it is to cold or applying way too much wax.

To make waxing easy, apply wax thinly and remove using a microfiber towel. Wax when the paint is cool. You can use a spray bottle of plain water or some quick detail spray to help remove wax. There are also spray waxes that work well and are very easy to use. Eagle One Nanowax Spray and Duragloss Aquawax are inexpensive and very good spray waxes.

Laundry detergent will strip the wax if that is what it is...

Bug and tar remover is also a great way to ruin a finish.

It will also make your car look awful. Are you sure you aren't trying to strip the clear coat which is PAINT?

The clear coat seals the pigment layer and gives it the deep candy apple type shine. Wax is not a replacement for the clear coat. Car wax will wear off in about 6 months of daily driving.

Meguires makes many excellent products including a cleaner wax which will work wonders and has a high percentage of petroleum distilates. polishing compounds, (rubbing compounds are too course and are only used like sandpaper to smooth out rough paint)

If you need the wax removed because you are painting over, you can get the stripper and prep products at NAPA. Also you can wet sand with 400# or finer wet paper also available at NAPA.

As a rule you WANT to keep the wax on your car. if you mean the white hard paste in the crevaces from a bad wax job, there is nothing like elbow grease, or you can pay someone $100 to "detail" the car. A good high shool kid with a work ethic can do it in about 6 hours.
