You mean the points earned in YA? They don't mean much except to show the extent of participation in the forum. You get points for answering others' questions, voting on questions as best answer, for visiting the site (counted for only one visit per day), and lose 5 points if you ask a question. There is no gift or prize awarded for scoring high points.
The forum only helps one to get information from others, whether right or wrong, and enables one to give his opinion on others' questions. Many people give frivolous answers too.
