I don't know if genetics are a factor. Fertility is a complex business.

Talk to you doctor. Maintain (or improve) your health. Some lifestyle changes will make much more difference if they are in place before conception rather than after.

I don't think that there is a way to predict when menopause will occur, but the shutdown occurs gradually, not suddenly. In the [don't ask me how many] months leading up to menopause, fertility reduces very sharply. A female is not as fertile at her last period as she was at her first, 10th or 100th.

1. Ovulation may not always produce an ovum. 2. Do you know when you ovulate? Ovulation test kits can help a lot. My friend found that at the age of almost 41, she was not producing an ovum each month and that her day of ovulation was different to what she expected. After years of trying she had cracked the puzzle. Knowing the best day for conception is a way to succeed.

There's also evidence that having regular sex will help. Before you switch off... the reason is to train your immune system to tolerate sperm, which after all is a foreign cell transplanted into your body. There may also be something in the seminal fluid of some males that causes rejection by the female.

The point is that it could be tricky, but there might be some simple things that help without jumping into IVF at the first disappointment.
All the best.

Unless you have started menopause early there is no reason you shouldnt be fertile, so long as your health is good and you can get good care, of course you can have kids.

chances are good, but I would wait too much longer. never know time could be running out, or you may have quite a few years left.
