My poor 10 year old kitty girl is being treated for a urinary tract infection, but last night, she urinated on my brand new microfiber sofa cushion. I've blotted out as much moisture as I can, but what can I do to remove the rest of the wetness and the smell? It's a blizzard outside, so I can't go running to the store for specialized cleaning items, but I do have regular household cleaning items. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you have a shampooer for your sofa, use that and follow it up with some frebreeze.

Dear Cat Owner:
The one liquid you do not want to add to the urine residue is water or water mixture with ammonia or vinegar. That will complicate the need to lessen the odor problem.
A little hydrogen peroxide poured onto a towel and then use to tamp or gently rub affected area. Use a hair blower to dry or direct a fan to the spot. When dry place a generous amount of baking soda on area for as long as you have to and then vacuum the powder. Add fresh baking powder if you have to. Try not to febreeze it until the area is 99.9% free of urine odor.
