Both had daughters who wrote tell all books about their mothers. I personality think Bette davis was the better actress. Bette would look really bad if the part called for it. Such as in Hush..Hush, Sweet charlotte and in a film she stared in with her long time rival Joan Crawford What ever happened to baby Jane. Joan was the prettier of the two and would choose the parts where she was not required to "Ugly up" Of the Joan Crawford movies I loved Straight Jacket. Whare are your favorite Bette & Jane movies?

Mildred Pierce was one of Joan's better movies! I also loved Dark Valley with Bette Davis. But Bette sure could play the part of a psychotic such as she did in both "Hush, Hush sweet Charolette" & the one she starred in withJoan "What ever happened to Baby Jane?"

Pamela Pamela Pamela......why of course Bette Davis was the better if not the best of all time. Bette played wonderfully in all types of roles ,drama OR comedy. Joan was a one dimension actress ,always a stiff.

Oh Gosh, did you ever see "Now Voyager" Bette Davis was so beautiful.
I enjoy watching them both they had the talent down pat.
Now Voyager is my favorite Bette Davis movie, it was such a real story.
Mildred Pierce is my favorite Joan Crawford movie.
What Ever Happened To Baby Jane was so good.
I will have to rent Straight Jacket I've never seen it, thanks for the recommendation.

Yes. Bette had more of a range. An old woman in terrible need one day, and a rich stuck up mother the next. Plus, Joan wasn't a very likeabele person, anyways. Go Bette D.!
