Sounds like your belt is broken. It happens. You should be able to find a replacement at an auto parts store or any store that sells lawnmower parts.

Am not familiar with the SLM1500 but some lawnmowers have an electric clutch and will not engage if certain interlock switches are not closed. If you are not on the seat or the seat switch is bad this will cause this. Also the belt could have slipped off the pulley on some types of mowers.
