i. power issue
u'r laptop & power adapter operate globally
only problem would be shape / size of power socket on wall
a multi-adapter solves most issues,

if however host country is not supported in above kit, best buy the plug adapter in host country and max. should be 2 to 3 $

ii. internet connection
dial-up should be available in most hotels world-wide
the reception desk should guide u in matter
most should offer even better, dsl or wi-fi
a brief guide

I take mine over seas all the time. Check your power supply if it says 100-240v 50-60Hz it will work over there, you will just need an adapter for the end where it plugs into the wall.

As far as the Internet goes the hotels usually have some sort of wireless but its like 10.00 euros a day ($13.00). There is also dial up connections, but you will need a special phone connector (i got mine at a electronic shop in Germany). Maybe a friend over there could let you use theirs. However, a lot of accounts are billed by the amount downloaded.

As far as the Internet goes, click on your wireless signal meter, when the window opens, double click "view wireless networks in range". Double click the hotels browser.

Your pc will pop up a window when it connects. Open Internet explorer, the first window that opens is an agreement to use the service and a charge sheet, you will need a credit card to bill this service to. Also have a MC or Visa. AMEX is not accepted over there like it is here.

FYI - Most bank ATM's over there will let you use your American ATM card to get cash.

Power supply is probably rated at 100 to 240 volts and 50 to 60 Hz. All you need is a plug adapter for a particular country.

Maybe you should buy a wireless router and set up the laptop to work with it either via built-in wireless facilities or a USB (or PCMCIA) wireless adapter. You can then try it outside your house (and practice picking up other wireless connections).

Options for overseas are LAN cable to other router, wireless and dial-up. For the latter you might need a telephone socket adapter. At least this works going from UK to USA where my Internet Service also provides local area telephone numbers.

Verizon offers an Internet card that will allow you to get Internet anywhere they have coverage. You'll have to buy an external network card and pay $79.99 a month for unlimited use or pay by the hour for each use depending on what you set up. But I believe if you visit Verizonwireless.com and use "wireless PC card" in their search option, they'll bring up this information. After you read their online options, call their main customer service line and simply ask what is their coverage like in India, China and Europe and what will be more cost efficient as far as unlimited or pay as you go Internet is concerned.

Yes it is possible. The airline you fly with can give you advice about what you need to do inflight. Your laptops should be able to search for wireless connections that you can use. Some require a key but many others don't. Just check that your laptop is set up to search for wireless networks. You can do it right now .....

Yes...unless you're a terrorist.

To take it on your next trip, pack it up in a bag, take it to the airport, fly somewhere far away.

When you get there, or before you leave (this part is up to you), buy a voltage adapter for the country you are going to, as they probably won't have 120VAC, and won't run the same plug types that we use here in America.

So long as you take your charger and a multi plug to fit in the sockets you are ok to take it with you. However, be aware that these days airport security can be a major problem. Likewise having it stolen is a major problem so make sure you perform lots of backups

u can take it overseas easily enough, you just need a voltage adapter when in europe or countries that use 220V AC. wrt your internet setup, i don't think you can connect to your router if you are not in the same country as your router
