Are you lazy? Do you want easy money? Do you have more faith in the lottery than your own ability? Is working for money too much work?

I'm just wondering what holds us back from achieving our financial dream. Is it our own negative thinking? Is the only way we know how to make money is by being on someone's job?

WHAT'S HOLDING YOU BACK? IS IT YOU?

Also money is not keeping you from your dreams. The money is there, how come you can't ever seem to get it? What is it about YOU that keeps YOU from achieving your financial dreams or goals. Too many people put the blame on someone else the reason why THEY have no money. Where does your responsibility come in?

Start your sentence with "I" - this is about PERSONAL finance. What are you doing or allowing to happen?

Nothing. Nothing is holding me back. Debt is slowing me down...but that will be gone soon. Debt is what holds most people back, it takes way their greatest wealth building tool--income.
It may mean alot of overtime, a second job at night, garage sale, ebay everything till the dog hides....but it can be done...by anyone. Most people don't actually have a budget and tell their money where to go...that holds them back...becoming wealthy is all about behavior...not math or some trick/scheme...behavior.

Heck, i can't achieve any financial dreams if i can't even pay this months bills! I work my tail off and still wonder where the groceries are coming from this week. We live pay check to pay check like most I talk to. Everything is so expensive. Gas in the car to get to and from work; the car payment; the phone because I have to keep in touch with my kids when they get home from school and if there's an emergency, etc; the internet because every teacher now assigns homework that requires research on the internet; the electricity bill to keep it all running smoothly; and its now the law to carry every single kind of insurance known to man---auto, home, life, medical, dental....where does it end!!, Now don't go off on me thinking I don't think insurance is a good idea--I do and I have all the ins that I need and want. I am just saying that it adds to the average persons stack o'bills and it can be quite expensive. The regular bills don't even include your more frivolous expenses like the credit cards you ran up over the holidays or a rare night at the movies. And then there's all those extras that the schools are looking for---donations for this function or group; bottle drives, penny donations---hello, I have to actually use my bottles and pennies for my own family. Even shopping at the dollar stores, money is tight for the majority of us. And most of us already work a fulltime job and some of us a second job and still can't quite make ends meet. We live in a perpetual state of "catching up" when it comes to paying bills.--always a month behind. And heaven help us if something comes up like the car radiator goes or the furnace in the house. Emergency fund, you say? Yeah right! I spent my emergency fund on daily living expenses months ago. And some of us have never had an emergency fund. Some of us have money put into a christmas club account each paycheck but have to transfer the money to the checking account each day after payday to feed the family.

So when you ask if we are lazy and want easy money and have more faith in the lottery I say this to you:
Not lazy--working my *** off and not getting ahead.
Want easy money--hell yeah if someone wants to give me a little help I'll take it to ease the burden.
More faith in the lottery---at least you know if you win you'll get your money-----I've paid in to the IRS six years running now---and I've done everything I was advised by more than a few financial experts.

What holds us back? Most of us live paycheck to paycheck so when we get behind in bills it takes a LONG FREAKING TIME to get caught back up because you have to stay current and pay on the stuff owed and still have money for groceries, gas, etc.

Negative thinking? No, I'm pretty positive in my thoughts about being broke the day after payday--in fact its a reality.

Working for someone else? Well, lets see....since going into business for yourself takes money....most of us live paycheck to paycheck.....where do you suppose we get the money to help us invest in our own business? A loan? Well, if you've never been late on a bill they'll give you all you want. If however, your credit history is screwed--whether of your own fault or the nasty ex-husband or the current financially inept husband--no one will give you a loan---of minimal amount to help get you back on your feet let a lone a substantial loan to start a business.

Most of us are well aware that we are not realizing our financial dreams. Many of us are working our tails off to try to break the cycle of living paycheck to paycheck. Even more of us are finding the courage to leave the bad situations we are in and venture out into the world on our own---which is initially more expensive than staying in the old familiar scene.

So when you ask what's holding you back and is it you. The answer is a loud resounding NO. We are doing the best we can with what we have.

So many questions...so little time!

"Is it our own negative thinking?"

I don't think so; we only know of a few ways of making money, and we 'get in a rut' and stay there virtually forever, because we may be afraid of change.

"Is the only way we know how to make money is by being on someone's job?"

For the vast majority of us, yes, because that's all we've ever "trained" to do, through school, vocational training, etc.

The fear of the unknown is probably the biggest road block to that "financial dream" whatever that dream happens to be for one person may be totally different for others.
