If safety is such a factor in wearing a seatbelt then why not apply the same logic to abortion. If personal rights are a factor in keeping abortions legal then why not apply to that logic to the right to choose wearing a seatbelt or even a motorcycle helmet.

when you fastened you're belt, you're responsible enough...but when you die fastened on belt? it's accident...but when you abort your kid, it's deliberate and therefore very lethal.

" If personal rights are a factor in keeping abortions legal then why not apply to that logic to the right to choose wearing a seatbelt or even a motorcycle helmet."

On an emotional level, I understand your logic. However, we are talking about legal and governmental level....

It is because the taxpayers aren't paying for an abortion, but will have to pay hospital fees (for the poor), funeral expenses (for the poor), and social security pay outs (for nearly everyone) if an individual gets injured or dies due to not wearing a seat belt.

Seems to me that you are trying to compare apples to oranges. The fact that insurance lobbyist and the NTSB have pushed for years to enforce the use of seatbelts, primarily to reduce the cost of insurance payouts on accidents, has no relativity to an abortion.
I don't believe there are many incidents of men suing women over the abortion of a fetus. Although this may occur you will not see legislation attached to it until a third party becomes financially responsible.
Overall I just think your question is much like the fact that you probably enjoy the taste of a freshly washed penis....Gay!

abortion is definitely the more lethal - for the aborted foetus at any rate.

seems an odd question - balance of personal choice and ethics.

having a legal abortion causes little medical risk to your personal life ... whereas not wearing a seatbelt or motorcyle helmet does.

you can't really compare the two on ground of safety ... you can compare them on grounds of ethics, human rights, personal choice - but not safety to the individual.

The case of Lady Diana is a classic example of the importance of a seat belt. IF everyone in the car had worn their seat belts then there is a good chance they would have all survived, as it was, the only survivor was the person wearing the seat belt. It's almost certain Lady Diana would have survived.
Seat belts don't just save lives, they reduce injuries as well. That reduces the time in hospital and the medical costs. This in turn reduces the costs of medical insurance and taxes.

Quote from Wikipedia article on Barry Goldwater Sr - a true conservative -
"Goldwater viewed abortion as a matter of personal choice, not intended for government intervention. He did not believe that abortion was murder if the baby had not taken the breath of life as said in the King James version of Genesis, chapter 2, verse 7: "And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul."

And I stress "not intended for government intervention" - get Big Liberal Government out of our personal lives. If you choose to not have an abortion, I respect you for that decision. There is no respect involved with a government mandated demand.

You know, that's about as asinine and invalid a connection you could make.Besides,if your not a woman, you should just shut the f**k up when it comes to abortion.I don't agree with all facets of the pro-choice side, but I also realize that I will never be raped or be the victim of incest and abuse or be a teenage girl with no way to support a child(and before you anyone spouts off about adoption, the fact of the matter is most children up for adoption in this country never are),so I feel that under no circumstance,do I have any right to foist my opinions on abortion on anybody. This is an issue that should be for women to debate, and men should keep their mouths shut, especially idiots like Rush Limbaugh and Jerry Falwell.

Abortion are very safe as long as they are not done in some back room with a coat hanger.

Not wearing a seatbelt can cost you your life.

Valid point, only when you consider, that wearing a helmet,,or seat belt makes perfect sense in trying to preserve life, while
abortion is designed to do the opposite.

when people argue against abortion, they're fighting for the rights of an innocent life. a life that can't make choices of it's own...the choice of whether it lives or dies. on the other hand, an adult is completely capable of making these decisions on their own....like whether or not to wear a seat belt. i don't see how you can make a comparison here.
