It is amazing to see you sit at you tv watching a game and you can select your best player at the same. I was just wondering about what happens exactly behind the scenes to allow you to interact with the show? what processes are involve by the time you select go interactive on your TV to the time you see menus you have to choose from and so.Where does the information come from? I wish someone would be able to explain how it happens. I know it is not magic!

A part of this new technology is in the satellite systems in use. Each players helmet has an identifier and processor built in. This is used in conjunction with GPS to show that players exact location on the field. NASCAR is using much the same technology to show online live race stats. Naturally, it is not as good as the actual game, since there is a lot of Internet traffic (slows it down) and a lot of technical stuff in play to both process the information and then feed it live. But if the TV is in another room, then it is better than nothing. Personally, I have a built in video capture card that is cable ready so I can watch live tv on my PC. I got this from http://www.geeks.com for under $40.00 with a direct cable connection. The best part is that it turns my PC into a DVR, so I don't miss anything while I am away, much the same as programming the VCR. It even comes with a remote to change channels, and volume, turn it on and off, and everything else. Hope this helps

Your cable/sattelite box is essentially a computer.

It just serves the internet content from the internet at the same time as the television, the content is created by the providers of the show you're watching.

For example if you were watching a show like MTV's TRL, that show may have an app streamed to your TV that will let you vote on the next video.

It's not exactly new and compelling technology from a technical standpoint, but it's still nifty to have that sort of interactivity.
