There is a difference between love and sex in movies from America. Many movies deal with just that issue. There are a lot of movies made here, more that three times what is made in any other country, so the chances of you seeing only good ones, or only bad ones is greatly reduced. We use sex as a joke, and comedies tend to use sex and love to make the drama funny so I can see where it would be hard to catch the sarcasm or charicature of life. I'm not sure how many movies you've seen or which ones you've seen but considering that we pit out hundreds of movies every year, some good, some bad, some weird, it is really hard to make any such generalization.
Europe has a much freer idea of sexuality than America does. Many of Europes movies are more graphic than American ones.
By and large, Americans, the British, and the West in general do not think that sex and love are the same thing. We don't have the strict societal rules that forbid sexuality without love either and for many cultures, it is hard to see the distinction between the two the way we do. We believe in the purity of love and the fun of sex, that they are separate and can be better together.

in my opinion its sad to say that each of the cultures are heavily influenced by religion. in the west Christianity has reign and so we are indoctrinated with the concept that you should not have sex before marriage (even though a new study shows most people do) and you should only marry someone you love thus you can only have sex with someone you love. in India it's different especially with arranged marriages let alone the fact that Indian moves don't show sex and a lot Indians see actors and actresses as whores to begin with.

I completely agree.

I think that the majority women equate sex with love. Where as with some men it's all about sex and nothing more. Some men can't get over the idea of committing himself to "one" woman and will go after any bi-ped with skirts.
