That happens a lot in Japanese cars when there is a loose nut behind the wheel.

does it jerk when you put it in different gears? And if so what gears? If it jerks when you change gears then you have a transmission problem. The knocking sound should indicate that you should check your oil level in your car because a camshaft doesnt like it when you ignore putting oil into it and then the gears get mad at you and your crankshaft gets mad at you and then you have a load of troubles, so check your oil...And your tranmission fluid....
