That is an extremely difficult question to answer. Why? Because only about 1/2 my investments actually turn out good. The other 1/2 get purged. Frankly I do not know exactly how one finds the best stocks to buy. Many that I thought were going to be great investments were absolute flops. My strategy is that if I do find a good investment, I keep buying it. If my investment does not prove to be good, I liquidate it after giving it about 3 to 6 months to prove itself. Never go past year end with a loss. Give them to Uncle Sam. Being right half the time does give very good results however provided one does not sit on the loosers too long.

I do not like high priced stocks. Too much risk to them. By high priced I mean high pe. Stocks that pay dividends and raise their dividends on an annual basis I also look favorably upon. BAC being one of my very favorites. Also USB and BBT. There appears to me greater opportunities in developing countries than in the U S. China and India especially although both areas are very high priced at the moment. Also Europe. One of these years Japan may turn around too.

I think a great source for ideas is seeing what the best investors are buying at http://www.top10traders.com - this is a free site that lets you create a portfolio of stocks with $100,000 in "play" money. Each day the site ranks the best performing portfolios, so you can see how your picks perform compared to other investors. You can read posts on investing from the best traders, as well as share your own investing ideas. There is a charting feature, so you can see how your portfolio performs compared to the S&P 500. Also, you can create your own "group" so that you can see how you are doing compared to your friends.

Here are this month's best traders:

Hope this helps.
