yes it will be fine. i have 3 glass tanks with reptiles in and they are doing fine, just as well as my other 6 wooden viv's. all i would say is make sure you keep an eye on the temp of the tank as glass doesn't keep it in aswell as wood, it if you fine its too cold you can insulate it with polystirine sheets around the back and two sides. reptiles soon get used to you coming in from above ( they also realise that food falls from the sky and sit waiting for it to drop). leopard geckos make great fist reptiles, they are cheap and easy to look after, make sure you read up on them first and always give them plenty of calcium powder on there food.

Yes it will work out fine. I have 6 snakes and all are in glass vivariums, some open from top, others from front. They can get stressed out, but all in all they should be okay. If you think your pet is being stressed out, just put something around the three sides of the tank and leave the front open. Give whatever it is plenty of hiding places and it should be fine. As far as what you need, that would be based on what pet you want to get. My suggestion is to go to the pet store and look around. Once you fine something you like, talk to the pet store about what you would need. They are usually willing to help you with anything like that. I would advise you to get what you need first and after having it set up go and get the pet.
My personal suggest would be to get a cornsnake, but one that is a little older, such as a year old, they are wonderful snakes to start with.

i would recomend a LEAPORD GEKKO, they don't need a very big tank, they are quite cheap to buy and very easy to look after. They are great to handle as i let my 2 kids age 4 and 8 hold mine. They just need a little place to hide and fresh water every day. They will eat 3 or 4 crickets every couple of days or they will eat meal worm or even big locusts. The best reptile for begginers just remember to handle them alot. they also need to be at a temperature of around 28 f to 33 f during the day, on a night it can drop down as far as about 16 f. DON'T use sand on the bottem of the tank because if they swallow it they can'y digest it and it may kill them. Try 1 and enjoy.

A glass tank doesn't hold heat too well, but is ok for a viv. Maybe try insulate it a bit so you wont need as much heating. If you have any interest in keeping your beardy in a living viv it will be perfect for that type of set up.

Its never advisable to convert a top loading tank into a Vivarium if keeping Reptiles especially if snakes as when you approach it from above it thinks its under attack from a predator & is liable to strike or get Very stressed. i advise you get a side opening vivarium. if you cant afford one you shouldn't own reptiles.

no, reptiles will get stressed by the exposed sides of glass, also reptiles are preyed upon from above and with an aquarium you would have to approach them from above, making them stressed, and glass doesnt hold heat very well.
