I agree with you. In this country prior to tournaments the media hypes the team up beyond all recognition so when they do go out it seems like a huge shock.
As for the current group of players they seem lacking imagination and leadership on and off the pitch. John Terry I can live with as captain but I thought the only reason Gary Nevillie didn't get it was because of the badge kissing business against Liverpool.
Also a valid point is the fact that an English Manager has never won the premiership and the last Englishman to win a league title was Howard Wilkinson and that fact is just as worrying as the lack of quality players.

Yes English players are definitely behind in more than just footballing technique. First of all, there is a shortage of talent coming through the ranks but its not just in England but in Ireland aswell.Kids are not going out into the streets to play football like they used to due to playstations, xboxs, computers and the fact that there is a bigger emphasis on education more than ever before doesn't help. There is nothing a manager can do if the players at his disposal are not good enough e.g. liverpool so they have to look abroad at foreign players who WILL make the team better. The way the game is thought needs to be changed aswell. Barcelona are a prime example of how you should play soccer.

I totall disagree with this argument , I think it lies deeper than that it all stems back from school, where you are not allowed to do anything now without the fear of been sued by other parents .
Preasure from parents on the touch line as well for me has been a big part in the kids not wanting to fulfill there desire to be a pro footballer.
Give the kids a break at school years level and dont put preasure on them and we will see a new crop off players comming through . Sadly this will now take a decade to get back if we start now, cos we have lost a generation of good player who dont want this preasure.

No I don 't agree but I do feel that some countries have gained ground by having their players in the premiership.
Apart from South American leagues every league has a fair number of foreign players and this has lifted the standard worldwide and I believe this is a good thing.

YES YES YES! Its similar to having a foreign workforce in a certain country...The locals become lazy and begin to rely on the ambitious foreigners...Also, foreign players have different skills, so it would be an advantage to have a bouqet of players from all over the world who play differently in terms of style and technique, because it would make the team less predictable during a match and will puzzle the opposing team...

no - there are enough quality english players (as we are always being told) just that they don't perform at internaational level. Having lots of foreign players around should help when it coms to playing internationals.
I do think Arsenal have taken it to extremes and if all clubs did that, then we would be in trouble. There should be a minimum of 4 english / (perhaps welsh, scots) players per starting line up to prevent evereyone going arsenal's way.

The England team made up mostly of players from the top 3 in the league as it stands today.Arsenal in 4th...How then do the renowned experts at talking shite ( they know who they are) lay the blame at Arsene Wengers feet, claiming he should even be thrown out of English football?

No. I disagree. The difference is that all the developing nations have finally caught up on skill levels. And more nations are playing football!
That's gotta be a good thing!

too much foreigners corresponds to your needs for competing in clubs UEFA competition, your poor national team results or low level english players is the result of your lack of training center, that's all
