Think about it. Men were once needed for their physical strength, but we have machines now. Men are resposible for almost all the violence and wars in the world. They are needed to continue the human race, but a few guys would be enough for that, maybe one guy for every five thousand women.

Let me get this straight folks. Do you lock your doors at night? Would you walk down the street alone at night in a strange city?
What are you afraid of? Women? Of course not.

necessary for what?... to answer very literally, you would not need men to keep the human race going, if you could get a sufficient number of sperm samples from across the male population you could keep the human race going indefinitely, each time a new male is born he is killed and his sample is taken as well to prevent stagnation and accidental inbreeding... however... science and technology will eventually get to the point where we can grow children in a test tubes and then only need a sufficient number female DNA samples to keep a population of purely men going..... but this would be a sad world indeed, we need mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, husbands and wives, both science and religion will come together quiet nicely on this one, a world filled with humans of only one sex would be an atrocity, so yeah i believe a near equal number of each sex is completely necessary for the proper psychological development of individuals .... both evolution and or god would be greatly diminished if the human race took that direction... i guess it all depends on what you think is NECESSARY, and i think people need love and sex and friendship between the genders not just to pass on our DNA... good question, it made me think, although i took it a bit more seriously than i think you intended it to be, this makes for good science fiction

OK, maybe we don't need that many men. But supposing one guy inseminates 5,000 women, what are the chances of males being born? Half the population will always be men, whether you like it or not.

With past & present Wars I would guess that the odds of 1 to 5000 is closer than you think to being a reality...Men are important to survival in many, many ways,I chose not to underestimate them or their potential..=)

That’s a stupid question.
Both men and women are essential for the existence of mankind and it doesn’t matter what a minority of both genders do.

And for you: it takes a real man to know what real men do and are important for.

sam the sham and the ferrous.
Yes, men are necessary. Who would move the furniture, pick up the heavy boxes and work on the car? They are kinda fun to have around for other things too.
