Been to Guoman before(formerly known as Cumberland), liked it very much. Would like something of that standard and convenience. If there's something cheaper, the better!

The Radisson SAS Portman Square is nice--renovated about 5 years ago and very close. There is also a nice boutique hotel called The Sumner Hotel that is close and a bit less expensive. Both are close to the Marble Arch end which makes it easy to walk Oxford Street and catch a tube.

http://www.tripadvisor.com/ has excellant reviews, written by real people who travel, so I would recommend looking there once you get an idea of what place you want to stay.

Hi there,
My company, Hotel-Assist, has quite a few hotels in that area...
The St. Giles Hotel (3 star) is cheaper than the Cumberland and equally convenient for the West End, you might wish to consider it. Feel free to contact us if you would like us to help with your accommodation search. Hope you have a nice trip!
