Mine is several years old, super slow and no longer works with any of 10 replacement power supplies....it just will not charge. It also crashes when you open most programs. I would like to get a new one but my husband thinks it's "just fine." How can I make it stop working completely without it being obvious?

Too bad it doesn't use Windows, youcould just search for a virus and be done with it once and for all without worry...lol

Just like push it off a table or knock it down some stairs. Or you can be creative and spill some kind of drink on it, or leave it in the street. You can also disable drives 5 and 7 which will make the keyborad and mouse stop working, and without the keyborad and mouse you can not enable them again.
Another option is to open it up, cut some wirers and bend some things around. Make it look like it broke from the inside.
You could remove all personal information and leave it in a public area and wait for it to get stolen.
Put it out in your yard with a 20$ sign on it.
Throw it away and let it find it's way to a dump.

Why don't you bring him to an Apple store and show him how a Mac is supposed to perform.

If he still says it's "just fine", then drop it a few times to loosen up the RAM a little so it will boot up to a kernel panic every time.

Then when you get a new Mac, send the "broken" PB G4 to me ;-)

How about being honest, facing the fact that it is several years old, and get a new one. Lying to your husband about how it stopped (or lying to cash in on the warranty) is way more wrong than how crappy they build laptops now.

pick it up about 6 inches and drop it so it lands flat on the coffee table several times and kills the hard drive
