Absolutely. Love them. Re-read them when I can. Also other books by L.M. Montgomery, and her short stories too.
It's really awe-inspiring to see the recreation of the Anne of Green Gables house which has been built on Prince Edward Island in Canada. The details are all there, including her little room upstairs, with the window looking out onto the trees, and the lovely dress with the puffy sleeves carefully laid out on the bed - just waiting to be put on.
Amazing to see busloads of people - especially oriental people - with tears in their eyes, touring this little house.
And behind the house is a woods with a path through it, and every so often there's a bench to sit on and rest, and an excerpt from her books, pertinent to the scene at that particular point.
Heartwarming and magical.

I love the books and am a fan of the movies and the show. I have all the books in the Anne of Green Gables series. i think I've read them at least three times each.
I cried so much when Walter had to go off to war. I don't know if you read Rilla's story (Anne's daughter) but I cried at the end.

I have read the first book when I think I was about in the 6th or 7th grade. It was a wonderful book all about Anne growing up and dealing with making friends, making trouble and getting scolded for it, and dealing with grief in the family and friends.
I thought for sure that the other books would be the same but I bought the second and it was not what I thought it would be. So I would recommend to read the first but the others get from the library if you really want to try them.

L M Montgomery also wrote a series called Emily of New Moon, also a fantastic series, and a few other stand alone books, like Kilmeny of the Orchard and The Blue Castle. Cute little books.

I read all the books when I was younger and I loved the TV series - I would definitely recommend the books and would plan to introduce any children I may have to them as well.

I do. I've read them. I haven^t seen the movie or the TV spin-off. They give a good impression of turn-of-the-century (19th to 20th) in Canada.
I have also read 'Maria Chapedelaine' by Louis Hémon. Written in French it his has been translated into numerous languages, including English and is well worth reading.
