An RBI means runs batted in. When a someone is batting and they get a hit or sacrifice, and the runner scores, then that is a run batted in. Also, if the bases are loaded and the hitter gets hit by a pitch, then the hitter gets the RBI as well. Also, if someone hits a bases loaded home run, the player who hits the home run, will get four RBI's since the three base runners including the player who hit the home run will score. So, an RBI is when a player gets a hit and depending on the runner(s) who score on the hit, home run, sacrifice, etc. is how many RBI's a player will have.
