My friends often 'interleave' their responses into my emails but I don't know how to do this?

If I hit the reply button my response ends up entirely above the email I'm replying to- haven't a clue how to make it do otherwise

Don't use reply - use forward and this will attach their original email. You will have to put their email address into the send area, so make sure you have an updated Address Book

just copy the email into yours, colour it differently and interleave your responses in between the email that was sent.
