Please answer as generally as possible (ie, I beleive it is a computer term, but right now, I'm reading about it in a biology book - the reference states that "Intelligent Design Theorists...assume that the only possible systems are ones that are highly decomposable.")

Please also answer as simply as possible (limit jargon!)

Thanks!

Sorry - would like to clarify further -

The article I am referring to is titled DARWINISM, DESIGN and COMPLEX SYSTEM DYNAMICS and is written by Bruce Weber and David Depew.

Note, the authors are criticizing ID for making the assumption that the only possible systems are highly decomposable. But then they also state that 'contemporary hyper-adaptionist versions of Darwinism...meet ID on the same ground by employing similar classes of models." (ie, highly decomposable systems.)

Therefore, they are arguing that BOTH Darwinists and ID theorists argue that 'the only possible systems are highly decomposable.'

You have read something by "Intelligent Design Theorists" so can basically ignore it. These are "Biblical Creationists" in another disguise.

The rather stupid arguement is that things cannot become "more complex" of their own accord. They then "argue" (make 2+2=5) that as humans are "more complex" than a worm, this cannot happen through nature, so "must be proof" that god exists. Very sad, they should get out more.
