If a girl in Angeles City, who appears to be a decent girl even though she lives in that city, aged 19 says to you that she needs money to continue her high school, can I believer her ? Isn't secondary education in the Phils free ?

Captain Jack -- thanks for your food for thought. Not a bar girl but a webcam girl. Have been studying her for a month and she seems like a decent girl, trapped in the poverty.... trap. I do want to help her but NOT been DONE out of money..

my research tells me that in Angeles City terms, a "BAR GIRL" and a "GIRL WHO WORKS IN A BAR" are not the same thing. A BAR-GIRL is a hard-core prostitute whereas a girl working in a bar is NOT but is definitely looking for a foreign to get married to. ( who's seen or has at least heard of "My Fair Lady" the film or book ? -- This is something similar, lololol )

You're being set up dude. Cut and Run now.
However, if you persist here's a couple of ideas:
1. Ask her for the name of the school. Call the principal (by telephone) and ask about her and the fees. Ask if you can pay the school directly. Tell her you're going to do this and guage her reaction.
2. Log in again as a different person and see what story she tells. It'll be easy to catch her out with her lies.

No, it's not free. But if this girl is a bar girl, or webcam girl, then she is probably lying...she probably has 5 guys she gives the same story to.
There are some decent girls over there though. My best bud just married a girl from Angeles and he is happy as could be.

Most students in the Philippines finish high school around 16 and are in college by 19 - They do not go 12 years as in the U.S.A. 10 years is normal. I would want to know why at 19 she is still in high school

public high school is free only cost of lunch, and books. Private high school a different matter.
But be careful many pina girls are gold diggers, life is very difficult in the Philippine and poverty can drive people to desperate measures.
At the same time my wife of 6 years is pina, so there are good people in Philippines, even though she does come from a very poor family.
She married me even though I have no GOLD!

i'm not sure if she's lying or not..
but this i'm sure of..highschool in the philippines don't need much money..not unless she goes in a private school...
but public schools are really, really cheap in the philippines...
in our place, public schools only costs more or less 500 pesos for the whole year...just don't know about angeles city...
sorry.. but there's a big possibility that she's lying...
or maybe she really needs the money for a lot of different smaller reasons...

19? money to continue school? she's scamming you, BIG TIME. it usually works with foreigners though it's not real.
high school's not free, but it's not expensive either. unless she studied in a private school (if it sounds like a saint, it is a private school). but i doubt that fact since she's 19.. she's scamming you.
you want to know the lowdown? 500 Php is for the start of the school year TOPS. the rest would be just for something something and everyday expenses.

secondary education even primary education is not free in the philippines.
life is pretty hard back home. so if you intend to help her, get enough details. name of the school, contact persons in that school, etc. and do some research on it before giving any money.

U r really interested in helping her. Is this your 1st or second question? if she is studying in a govt school she has to pay for a very minimal fee. if you really like to help her, then why not? but just send her money enough for her tuition.

You could say to her you will write a cheque out to her school and see what her reaction is... Or ring the school itself... Still I wouldn't give her the cash... Cheque is best, but not in her name.
