The little sarcastic things people say in an offhand way often upset me for days if not weeks. I wish I could ignore them more easily but for some reason I wasn't built that way.
Any advice?

What you need is a happy place in your mind. You create this for yourself - a place or thoughts of something or someone nice. When something upsets you, go to your happy place in your head. You may need to have a reminder around that help you to remember your happy place. When you go to your happy place, start thinking about all the things that makes your happy place happy. Think about the details.

At first it may take a long time of thinking about your happy place in order to stop thinking about the negative, just keep going back. As time goes on you'll be spending less and less time on negative thoughts.

Good luck!

P.S. You may also need some counseling/coaching on this subject.

What you need to do is build up your own self esteem then the comments won't hurt the way they do. You also need to work out if these people are your friends just having fun with you or people that you barely know...in which case their comments are not important. Take care.

Treat the ****'s with the contempt they deserve, and don't sink to their level
remember you are of higher intelligence than them that is why you are so
sensitive. Remember this, I used to be like you but I ignored the wasters
they are not worth the time of day. They will catch on eventually and that is
when your hide will thicken and they will respect you. You will remember this
answer in years to come, and say to yourself he was right.Good Luck Tribune

The way I see it you have two options, you could either speak your mind and tell them what you think of their comments or you could take up a sport or activity where you can let off steam.

I found going for a run very therapeutic, literally running away from my problems.

realize that people who say sarcastic things are mean little people and you're better than them...when their words come back to you, understand that those people are wrong and you don't have to waste your time thinking about things that aren't true...and then go find people who you deserve to hang out with

learn to talk more and build up your confidence. learn to laugh at simple things in life and even yourself. do not be shy. remember that nothing will be fun in life if you take everything too seriously.
