there is story in the bible about a cloud being on the horizon that is the size of a mans hand, if i hold out my hand and then hold up to the horizon is there a way of telling how much land my hand is covering as i would like to know how big the cloud was... i hope that makes sence

Your fist at arm's length gives an angle of 10 degrees, with the fingers outstretched it's 20 degrees from thumb to little finger tip.

If you hold your hand out as a fist, it's roughly 5 degrees. If you spread your fingers out, it's roughly 10 degrees.

That sounds like a trigonometry question to me. It depends on how large your hand is, and how far away. The closer to your eyes, the more you cover.
