O.K. If this is really a rat, then go to your local hardware store and by rat traps. Four of them will do nicely. Bait two with peanut butter, and two with cheese. But here's the trick. Nobody wants a dead rat lost in the attic, so attach the trap to a piece of coat hanger, and the coat hanger to something heavy, or secure. Wait patiently for that satisfying snap in the middle of the night. Open a bottle of champagne, and reward yourself for a job accomplished. Get the rat in the morning.

Go to hardware store or any place that sells rat and mice traps, and put a rat trap in the area you know the rat is occupying. Follow the instructions on the wrapper. I used to live on a farm and always had rats/ mice in the barn trying to eat livestock feed and staying warm in winter. Make sure there is no food source that would attract more vermin.

We had one last year! Get pest control in from the Council - its free - they will put poison down and have a good luck round to see how they are getting in. My hubby went round our house making sure any little holes were sealed up especially near the foundations. We had decking and apparently rats love it as they can burrow underneath, so we moved it. We actually caught the rat in a humane trap but then the council came out and shot it!

The best thing is one of those electronic devices that you can plug in, it emmits a high pitched tone, you can't hear. It keeps vermin away, also stops them breeding. Rats will eat anything, I heard Rat Catcher on the raidio say rats fave food is dog poo! And in the uk there is a constant supply!

well if it is a rat then you are going to have lot´s of work ,they are very clever. where there´s one there´s hundred´s try and find exactly where it´s coming from block up any holes, then you have 3 things you can to . 1 you can buy the glue place on cardboard, and they get stuck ,BUT, rats will eat there legs of to get free so 2 which I think is the best and 99% of the time catches them large trap ,Spanish Chorizo sausage ,they have to stop and eat it.but like I said Rat´s are very clever.3 get the professionals in, wish you luck

RUN!!!! No, get a big "rat trap" they sell em at Walmart.......Dcon, spread it around maybe it will eat it......but I guess I might think twice about putting it in your attic...you don't wanna smell the dead thing.......They also make traps that electrocute them, but I have seen that for mice...I don't know about rats......some are glue, some are just "trapping" devices.....if that doesn't work, I would call in someone!

Are you sure it's a rat?
It could be squirrels. Get a trap or poison.... or both.
Whatever you do, don't delay, they could be causing a lot of damage.
