as far as i no ex partners only have certain rights for up to 3 yrs after a divorce so i would seek help from a solicitor, even if his name is on the deeds you will still be entitled to your mothers share as her next of kin, please seek help immediately before he does anything underhanded

Seek legal advice but I had to get a Clean Break Agreement drawn up when I get divorced to prevent my ex making any future claims against me after the divorce. There are lots of different factors to take into consideration - was it a condition of the divorce, how much did he own, how much did he pay etc. It's been known that ex-partners are only entitled to their share upon death. A solicitor will be able to give you better advice.

I don't think he has the right ,, as you've said,
they were divorced 10 yrs ago. so what right
does he got? long enough that he has settled
that property if he knows he has rights to have it.
It should be sold and they go half or your mom
must have paid him to get the house for herself,
or else your step dad won't leave your mom alone,
considering what he's done now.
Please seek legal advice to be sure and give you
peace of mind.. It would be better to do it as soon as
you can , Don't leave it too late, then you'll be sorry.
FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT..

i would not think this is legal as he is not legally anything to her.there are a lot of vultures out there waiting on a chance and he just jumped on his .best thing you can do is call a lawyer i know in the state of tx, they will give free advice in most cases and that would be the way to go.i do not think he has any claims to anything of hers though unless she willed it to him and you should be able to force his hand and make him show proof of it because when a parent dies it falls to oldest child and down if there was no will if i am not mistaken.worth checking in to.good luck

Since their is no will, an estate will usually wind up in court. That is where you need to be. You need to get an attorney, contest your stepfather, and fight to win everything. Most likely the outcome will be a division of property. He may even settle out of court with you. however, don't do anything without an attorney. Don't even look at him.
