Pull the plug out from the power point and go and have a cup of coffee and play solitaire for an hour. Go back and plug in and watch to see if the heat switch rotates a click at a time or in one go. If its going round in one go...it could be that the heating system is going from warm to cold too quickly and not allowing it to heat up properly.

If theres no air going through then it could be the blower.
If it's an electric dryer, its the heating element. If it's gas dryer, it's the thermocouple(electric igniter). You"ll have to replace either part that is no longer working. Get the model number and find someone that sells that model, and make and order part and install it.

Like the other posters said, probably the heating element. Happened to me once and it cost about 100 dollars to fix I had to have someone come out and fix it since I didn't know how to do it myself. Still it beat having to spend 300 dollars for a new dryer.

Due to UL requirements, newer dryers have more controls & safety devices in them than ever before. It could be something as simple as a thermal fuse. If you do not have the knowledge or equipment to diagnose the problem, you are better off calling an experienced servicer.

Hi
Before getting a new heating element it is worth checking if it is simply that the overheat circuit breaker - mounted adjacent to the heater - has opened. This will need replacing but it is a fairly simple task.
Suggest you check out the manufacturers website or one of these:
www.askthetrades.co.uk or www.diynot.com where you will fin dloads of helpful advice.

Sounds like the thermal cut out.this is just a little bymetallic strip should be close to the heating element.Tis stops the machine from over heating. Some of these can be reset just by pushing the centre of it.a wee white bit.

Sounds like you need to replace the heating element. Not too expensive.
