Actually, I have never heard a negative comment about India made. We don't consider you a Muslim nation, although we do sympathize that you have to endure them, and their attacks on your good citizens. We generally do not trust Pakistan, they have proven time and time again to be true Muslims and they will lie for and hide terrorists every chance they get.

We do consider India a good friend, and hope that we can join together to fight against this Muslim scourge of the world.

Blessings.

In my opinion all countries aren't Terrorist free. When my first thought turns towards India I think Ghandi automatically, so I would say Yes but just hidden really well.

Look, Terrorism and Terrorists are going to be a part of history, whether we are naive enough to believe it or not. Even in India Even in my USA. It is a shameful fact of life. One that makes me ashamed to be a person. If we all followed eye for an Eye, tooth for a tooth. Humanity would be dead. And Yes I do think of you as a muslim Nation. Just Not...... An Extremist Muslim Nation.

No I have always thought of India as a Hindu nation. Never even thought about Muslims even being in India until they bombed that train.

"Emotional Plague Day"-worldwide celebrations

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - Hardline Hindu activists protested against
celebrations of St Valentine's Day in the Indian capital on
Wednesday, calling them immoral and a corruption of the country's
ancient civilisation.

About 150 members of the pro-Hindu political party Shiv Sena gathered
in New Delhi, shouting

"Down with Western culture!" and
"Death to Valentine's Day!" as they waved saffron-coloured flags.

"Valentine's Day promotes obscene cards and nudity and encourages our
youngsters to be publicly affectionate in parks and other places --
this is against our ancient civilisation," said Jai Bhagwan Goyal,
head of Shiv Sena in the capital.

"This western creation is corrupting our young people and making them
have immoral thoughts"

In Mumbai, the scene of violent protests in the past, love seemed to
conquer all and the day passed off peacefully.

Tens of Shiv Sena protesters burnt Valentine's cards in Jaipur and
tried to enter the city's main park to harass courting couples, but
were stopped by police.

In the Muslim-majority state of Kashmir, at least a dozen women
covered from head to toe in black burqas, stormed into several
restaurants in Srinagar, telling couples to go home and stay away
from "unIslamic" Valentine's Day celebrations.

"Valentine's Day is against Islamic teachings, our ethos and
culture," said Andrabi, chief of Dukhtaran-e-Milat (Daughters of the
Muslim Faith).

Satellite television, the internet, films and travel have led
traditionally conservative middle-class Indians to adopt more liberal
attitudes towards sex. But public hugging and kissing, even in urban
areas, still invite angry stares, lewd comments and even beatings.

I'm American by birth, but have lived outside of the US for more than half my life. Plus, I have spent time in India.

India is majority Hindu by a very large margin. I don't think most Americans know, or have bothered to make themselves aware, of the tenets of Hinduism. They only became curious about Islam after 9/11.

Without espousing any particular point of view about Hinduism, a few facts:

- Hindus believe that one achieves enlightenment through living a good life, which is not that dissimilar from Christianity. However, there is a different playing field for Hindus. Any Christian can find enlightenment regardless of their social status. In fact, Jesus Christ said the desolate and desolute are more deserving of redemption than their richer and more secure counterparts. Hindus believe the lower castes are unworthy of enlightenment, and live in poverty and ignomity because they have sinned in past lives.

- Hinduism, like Islam, espouses the inferiority of women (although many Muslims would disagree with that statement on a Koranic level, there is evidence that it is at least the practice). We hear all the time about the "honor killings" of women in Islamic countries, but although the Indian government officially banned the murder of female babies nearly a decade ago, the practice is still prevalent in rural areas. Again, there is nothing in Hindu religious texts which states women are inferior, but it is a matter of practice to treat them as such, to the extent of infanticide.

- Hinduism is multi-theistic and animalistic. In other words, they worship a number of gods, and most of them are half human, half animal. Islam is monotheistic like Christianity, worshipping one God and one prophet, while acknowledging other prophets from the other Abrahamic faiths.

- Because Hinduism is animalistic, it protects the rights of certain animals over the rights of humans. A cow or a rat has a higher status than an untouchable. Sure, there are rat catchers in cities, but in the country they leave them alone, even if they eat all the grain stores meant for human consumption. And even in cities, traffic stops for cows in the road; they don't even try to shoo them away.

Believe it or not, I learnt about Hinduism in high school in the United States. My World History teacher was incredibly good at his job. We spent at least two weeks learning about the 8 Fold Path. He inspired my decision to spend my gap year in India.

Having travelled widely in India and living with people in city and country alike, I learned the practicalities of their religion as well as the impracticalities.

Multiple deities mean year-long celebrations. A break from the monotony and distress of poverty.

The ritualistic practice of casting corpses into the Ganges River is a health hazard. People down river bathe in, do their washing in, and even drink from the Ganges.

The concept of having a large number of children is because the social system in Hinduism promotes children taking care of their parents when they are too old to fend for themselves. The idea is, the more children you have, the more surviving children you will have, the more people will live to take care of you when you are old. The male-female extension of this is that men are physically able to do more work and harder work than females. Females are often considered to be a burden - another mouth to feed in exchange for performing 3/4 of the work load, especially in agriculture, as their male counterparts. So the practice of killing female infants is considered to be kind of "mercy killing".

Arranged marriages - still very prevalent in Hindu culture - are a societal thing, but also pegged to the welfare of the parents. The "better" the family, the bigger the dowry, the better off the groom's parents will be in old age. The arranged marriage of young children is also frowned on officially, but still practiced widely. This is not to say that young children are forced to have sex once married; usually the children are married but not encouraged, much less forced, to copulate before the age of 17 or 18.

As for links to terrorist organizations, India has one that I know of - the Tamil Tigers. Sri Lanka is majority Sinhalese (Buddist) and there are very clear connections between the LTTE (Hindu) and the Indian government. No connections that I know of with Islamic terrorist groups.
