Sounds like a grim question. A relative of mine in Germany, where i visited five years ago, dropped a car toy down the toilet and flushed it. The car toy was still in there and i had no choice but to get it out. I don't think i washed my hands afterwards.. I was still a kid that could get away with that.

Yeah, it happens all the time - mobiles, toilet roll, money ...

The most memorable for me was when I was at uni and had just handwritten a 6000 word essay which had taken me weeks. I left it on the table while i went to make a cup of tea. I heard a bit of a commotion in the bathroom and went in to find my two year old son ripping it in shreds and stuffing it down the toilet. The horror stopped me in my tracks but more was to come - he had been repeatedly flushing the toilet and the place was flooded. It seeped down to the neighbour below - an irrascible old man who came upstairs to shout at me about damage to his new decor.

I had to ask for an extension to the deadline and after recovering from my nervous breakdown I did manage to get the thing rewritten - and got an A+!

i was at a friends house in country NSW Australia, out there the toilets are a little different to ones i was used to. In the bottom of the bowl there was like a trap door that would open and close when you flush the toilet. Anyway I went to the loo and reached up to flush and as i pushed the button I bumped the air freshener and it fell straight into the toilet bowl and before I even had a chance to wonder what I was going to do the little door in the bottom of the bowl opened up and it was gone. I stood there in disbelief, I didn't know Way to do, and back then i smoked a little bit of pot so I was standing in the toilet, stoned looking into this bowl wondering what the hell to do, I couldn't contain myself I went out laughing to my mate and told him what had happened

I do it all the time. I've dropped in markers and pens and got them out, they're always in my pockets and they'll block it if I don't get them out. I've dropped my work access card and lanyard in the loo several times and had to sterilize it as well as I could til I could get a new one (thrown the lanyard out) I came home one time and the wind had knocked a pile of toilet paper off the shelf and into the toilet, I had no choice. My house is well stocked with rubber gloves!

Yeah, my friend dropped her car keys down there once. I could hear her laughing and freaking out. After about 10 minutes we found a friend who was willing enough to retrieve them. GROSS!
