well the best way to clean your rug´s ,or should I say they way I clean my rug´s. before you hoover them, turn them over and stamp on them . This get´s all the deep down dirt out you will see when you lift the rug just how much dirt there is. then pass the hoover . this will make it so much easier for you to clean . Myself I have found that your own hair shampoo clean´s carpet and does the job just as well if not better so I suggest with a sponge go over the rug using shampoo and water , rinse all soap of .yes again with the sponge. you could then hang it up so that it dry´s
but if the rug is not to big. take a bath towel and roll the rug in the towel nice and tight this will help dry the rug ,then leave in the fresh air to dry. they come up nice and new looking

It depends but if the stains are recent or new eg wine, i use salt. Pour salt on it and it will absorb any dampness and colour. You'll need to follow up with a carpet cleaner. I got one in a pump spray from the supermarket. Yu spray on then wipe/vacuum. This will help with old stains. Failing all, get a pro carpet cleaner. Look in your local paper, lots of reasonably priced services! Hope this helps.
