All masses and lengths are standardised against the prototype kilogram and the prototype metre. Both are great scientific treasures kept in a small town called Sevres, west of Paris.
Had the opportunity of visiting the place before, but alas, these treasures are not meant for public viewing.
The place where they are kept is called the International Bureau of Weights and Measures.
However, there are several replicas made all around the world.

I believe all SI units of measurements are kept in Paris, France but as for British Imperial Systems of measurements, they are a collectors' items and only Americans still use them. British are slowly getting used to SI systems and in particular the metric system.
Oh, one more thing, the British still use pound as their main currency unit. I wonder for how long especially, plans are afoot to link oil price to Euros. I hope Americans would accept this without resorting to force!!

They are kept in strict temp areas.
But, if you go to Trafalgar Square and look carefully at the floor along one side, you will find the standard inch, foot, yard, and rod pole or perch, chain, etc. Very interesting when you find them. Go have a look!

The standard length (metre) and weight (kilogram) are in Paris.
A Google search will give more detail.
