I'm with JohnK on this... VISTA is very top heavy, but so was XP compared to WIN98...
VISTA >>will<< be the OS for the forseeable future.... t's architecture will allow more and more programs to run with it and NOT with XP and eventually XP will go the route of 98....beloved of memory but consigned to the CD bins along with 95.
You haven't made a mistake here... just think of all the fun you'll have as MicroShaft discovers all the screwups in their programming and releases patch after patch to fix ther previous patch which needed patching after the last patch's patch got patched.
Can you say L I N U X ?
Seriously, VISTA is gonna be worth it...just hang in there.

Well as Vista now is the main OS coming with computers theres not much choice but as Vista is so new you will have actually a higher threat of security problems than XP due to the continuous security flaws also not all the programs you like will work with Vista just yet but you do get a nice new GUI however you can actually get all this on XP.
However you computer will be future proof as it will at least 1GB RAM and should have at least a half decent dual core proccessor so no you havent made a mistake but there might be some problems for a few months until Microsoft fix the teething problems.

Vista is good but still has a couple of bugs to fix. Some people may say that it is the same as the mac but it isn't. It's far better.
I'm going to stick with XP for 1 year and then I'll switch. Most of the bugs and problems should be solved by then.
As long as you didn't buy the home and went for something like premium it's ok. home is the same as XP and a waste of money.
Hope this helps

No, you havent made a mistake. Vista is pretty nice, I think they went overboard on the appearance but thats my opinion. Most ppl still consider xp the best available because vista is so new that everyone is "waiting for the bugs" to get worked out. I had no problems running vista, it just takes a little getting used to.

In the short term, yes. There are lots of compatibility issues with different hardware devices and there are some programs that don't work very well. Also, there are going to be bugs that will need to be sorted and security issues they didn't see.
Honestly, you should have waited, but maybe you can get a refund on Vista and change it to XP?

I will not update until I absolutely have to.
Hopefully I will be able to skip a couple operating systems like I did last time.
Look through the posts on this website already for those messing with it. I have funny feeling XP will be around for a long time.

I also bought it. it needs 512 mb of ram where as i had only 256, people told me to buy it after few months, it would get better by that time.
