In all the answers I saw above, no one mentioned hip swivel. The soccer style kick generates power from the rotation of the hips into the kick. Only the former high school kicker has any sense, out of all those that have answered before.

Adjust the ball at a 70-75 degree angle on the kicking tee, then drive the ball just below center with a sharp, fluid swing with your head down to the follow-through. Hash mark kicks require the ball be moved a few degrees opposite the hash your on, so that you can "hook" the ball back through the uprights to take advantage of any wind you may have at your back. Also, you can drive the ball low and hard on long field goal attempts, but you'd better have great range and timing, for the greatest danger to shortening your height to gain more distance is that the kick has a greater risk of being blocked.

Good form is just as important as a strong leg for distance. Work on flexibility because the more extension you have in your leg the farther the ball will go. One of the most important issues with form regarding distance is making sure that you kicking leg is locked and not bent, this allows your leg to swing through the ball faster and at a greater arc causing the ball to go farther. Work out your legs to get them stronger. When you kick the ball, come downfield towards your target line. Your arm opposite of your kicking leg is used as a counter balance when kicking, and when you kick your arm swings across your body. The faster your arm moves the faster your leg will move. Leg strength will come with practice and working out.

It all has to do with physics, and some leg strength. If you kick the ball at a 45 degree angle, that is where the maximum distance will happen, so most of the time, you want to try to kick the ball about about half way down. Also, build those legs!

I'm not sure because I'm a WR but they get a bit of a running start and get under the ball to get height and to get distance they just kick it as hard as they can.
